Babies Kids Photographer

Remember those red hard-bound books our parents used to document for all our first moments. I still have mine tucked away somewhere. Sometimes I even dig out a bunch of old albums from the family's stash and look at my Annaprashana images and also my baby pictures as a newborn. This made me experience nostalgia and also remember the time I hardly had my senses.

The millennial idea of documenting first moments is sort of on the same path but slightly different. We now start from baby shower photoshoot and I'm absolutely in love with the idea of capturing the baby-bump and also documenting the baby photoshoot.

Why get a baby shower photoshoot?

It's my favorite pastime on Instagram to look at baby pictures and let me tell you the game has elevated to another level. (Recently I saw this baby girl have a photoshoot dressed like Frieda Kahlo and it's been my absolute favorite thing since then.)

You probably already have hundreds of photos of your kids on your phone and might feel like it isn't a big deal getting a baby shower photoshoot done before the kids are born. But trust me, there's a lot one has to keep in mind while looking for a photographer to click expecting women, and their little ones. You need to employ someone who has knowledge of the technical aspects, the correct shutter speed, aperture, angles, lighting, etc and at the same time is good with handling kids.

Given that, baby shower photoshoot and children's photography is still not a very big deal in India, it can be difficult finding skilled photographers for the same as baby photography.

CamYogi provides you with professional photographers who will make sure your baby's every moment is captured in the best possible way, which certainly starts with the baby shower photoshoot. We have attractive packages for you which start from as low as ₹5000 INR, also for every booking you receive a photo album, digital copies, and the editing for free. Related to babies and kids photography, we also do maternity photoshoot, newborn photo sessions, family portraits, etc.

Experienced kids photographers, who have previously worked with made a note that the baby's mood is very important when doing a photo session. Exactly how important the mother’s mood and temperament is in a baby shower photoshoot. This is why we also try to provide an environment where your child as well as the mother will feel free and unconfined.

The thing about baby photography or baby shower photoshoot is that they don't need a pose guide, their best shots are often the candid, impromptu ones. Keep in mind the fact that you shouldn't try to get children to act the way you want them to for the photo shoot, have the photographers shoot them as they are.

Children don't fake their emotions, they are raw and real and this is what makes their portraits stand out so much. As the one overseeing the shoot, make sure the photographer is ready to capture all their genuine moments. Give them an environment where they can be themselves. If your kid or the mother is not getting your idea let them be and move onto something simpler which they can grasp and feel comfortable in. If you keep on coercing them for the perfect shot, it might tense them up and you'll miss the child's authenticity or the baby shower’s carefree element in the later shots.

Here are some protips we give our photographers

  • Speak their language and never talk down to them. Nobody likes being asked about their school, instead, focus on the things they're passionate about, ask them to show you their favorite toys, ask them about the cartoons they like. The child will develop a rapport with you and will be easier to work with. Goof around, do funny things and keep your camera ready.

  • It's also important to handle your body language, it's obvious you'll be much taller than the kid you're photographing, but I'll suggest you get down to their level. Don't spend all your time looking down at them, work with your camera in such a way that the picture looks more connected to the child.

  • Unless you're working with professional kid's models, you need to pay attention to the time frame. Don't tire the child out and definitely do not push them beyond their limit. Like I've already emphasized enough, unlike adults when you're working with children the shits aren't pose driven but rather about the warmth, purity of the photos and you definitely won't be having that in your photos if you tire them out.

  • Try and keep the location as non-intimidating as possible for the baby shower photoshoot. Studios are a big no-no unless it's a professional shoot, rather look for locations that have ample natural lighting and freedom. A park, or the beach or maybe a garden would be some good ideas.

  • Respect the mother or the child’s privacy. You should be sensitive to the person’s emotion and health, always make sure at least one family member is present while shooting. This can get tricky and might be a problem when you're trying to get a candid moment on the frame but nevertheless always make sure you're sensitive, ethical, and compassionate.

1. When is the best time to schedule the baby shower photoshoot?

For the maternity picture, it is best for the fifth or the sixth month during pregnancy. And for the newborn, it's best if you book a session for your child at least 5-6 months or one year post birth.

2. Can I incorporate the entire family?

Yes! We have photographers available for family portraits too.

3. How much do baby shower photoshoots cost?

The average price for a child's photography session will cost you 5000-8000 approximately. Packages start at 5000 and go upto 10,000.

4. How long will it take for me to get my images?

Depending on the photographer it might take them from 1 week to a couple to get your images ready.

5. Who supplies props for the session?

This too depends on the photographer you decide to work with. In most cases, we suggest you get your own props but in case that option isn't available we can ask the photographer to get them for you too.

6. What is the cancellation policy?

Different companies have different cancellation policies, so it’d be best if you talk to the photographer you’re working with beforehand in case such a situation occurs. Also, I suggest canceling a booking well in time usually helps with refunds.
