This isn’t exactly a game, but more like a fun to do sport for creative people. This is the best jam, if your kitty members are enthusiastic and creative somehow. Either provide them with something to draw on, like a Balloon, kerchief, piece of cloth or just an open card alongside coloring materials.

How to play?

Well, there aren’t any rules for as such kitty party games. One can draw exactly the way they want it to be and the best part is there is no competition. Each person draws for the other person in the room. So, let them enjoy their time practicing their artistic skills.

Tips:

Exchange the art work within the kitty members, so that they get a take away for their homes.

‘Write the Movie name’- Kitty party games for Bollywood Geeks

These are really funny kitty party games, meant to ooze out a boring party to the next level. Provide your guests with a piece of paper, and pen for writing.

How to play?

Tell them to make two columns, on the right side tell them to write five movie names that they are able to remember at that moment. Then, the host has to tell them their family member relations which would be written in the same pattern they wrote the names in.  Like, if they wrote the first movie name as ‘The Great Gatsby’ and you said ‘My husband’. Then they have to write that beside it. There isn’t any winner, but the entire room would be laughing with such funny combinations.

Tips:

Use the name of a close family member for these kitty party games.

‘Guess the food blind-folded- Kitty party games for food lovers

This is an extremely funny game, where you have to prepare different food items for an individual  person in the room. Each person would be blind folded, while you make them taste the food item.

How to play?

Each player gets to taste a food item, and they have to guess it correctly. No one loses here, nor does anyone win. After the horrible or wonderful experience of tasting thing blind folded, each player gets to eat their favorite dessert.

Tips:

Only make them taste edible items, like chili powder or toothpaste.

Do not make someone taste anything which is against their principles, like milk to a Vegan.

‘Slide the biscuit’- Fun kitty party games

Arrange a packet of yummy chocolate cookies, or a thin crust biscuit packet. Make sure that there are sufficient numbers of cookies for everyone in the room. And that is all that you need to keep for these kinds of kitty party games.

kitty party games

How to play?

All the players would be getting some time to play this game for kitty party, individually. The biscuit would be placed on their forehead, while they have to put the biscuit inside their mouth. Sounds easy right? You cannot use your hands for it. As soon as your biscuits fall, breaks or cracks on the face; they are eliminated. The sooner the biscuit reaches the mouth, that person wins the game for kitty party.

Tips:

Keep a stopwatch ready for such kitty party games.

Use biscuits which are preferred or eaten by everyone.

‘Knot tying’- Ladies Kitty party games

This is the most appropriate game for Kitty party, as all the ladies can sit together to test their chance on the number of knots they can make. You’ve to arrange two things, a thick string for each lady in the room and a one minute stopwatch.

How to play?

Each player gets one minute to tie as many knots as they can on the provided string. The woman with the most number of knots in her string under minute minutes would be winning the game.

Tips:

Prepare a thick string for the knots, so that if neither hurts the person or she finds it difficult to knot.

Prepare the stopwatch for one minute before, she starts tying the knots.

 ‘Name, Place, Animal thing’

You must have played this game, at least once in your childhood which reminds you of the fresh memories of making up city names, and also object names which hardly exist. But sadly, now you’re playing this with grownups, so no making up names and details. Only literally playing up with your dear mates.

How to play?

Provide all your kitty members with a page and a pen to write with. Tell one of the ladies to mime the letters in the alphabetic order, where one of you has to stop her. The word on which she stops, the rest of the lady has to write, a name, place, animal, and thing with that. They would be given thirty seconds to write with each alphabet. Any incorrect or similar name wouldn’t be qualified as right. Points would be given only to the correctly spelled and unique words.

Kitty party games, best kitty party games

Tips:

Let each participant get the opportunity to count and stop

None of the alphabets should come twice

The winner will be the one with the highest score.

 ‘What’s in your bag challenge’

This isn’t literally a game, more like a fun get together between the kitty ladies. These kinds of kitty party games, allow the further interaction between the members. Where all the women get a chance to be more intimate and together with their closest thing on earth, ‘their handbag’. More than a game, it is a time of embarrassment within the ladies, as they disclose their secrets within themselves.

kitty party games, best kitty pary games

How to play?

Simple as it sounds to be, all the women in the room get to be together for the ‘Shared’. Where they share the exclusive details related to the ‘ingredients’ in their handbag. They happen to make a list on a piece of paper, that contains the number of items in their bag. Whatever they have inside their bags. They have to write it on the paper, even if that is a small piece of rubber band. The highest number of things in the bag, is the winner of the contest.

Tips

Do not intrude, if someone isn’t comfortable showing anything.

Do not force anyone to play.

Apart from these kitty party games, there are many more interesting and funny games that you enjoy with your girls. The best about this, it can be played however you want it to be. A kitty party consists of lots of fun, which includes food and funny games. Playing it however one wants it to be.

The Best guide to Wedding Tray Decoration on the Internet 6 unique ideas and more

Bengali weddings have a ritual involving wedding tray decoration, where the two families exchange gifts or trousseau. Also known as tatta in local terms, some of my fondest memories of any wedding are that of decorating the tatta although I’d always make sure to skip the one with the huge fish in it.

Wedding tray decoration and the gift exchange that follows is a ritual deeply intertwined with the tradition surrounding a Bengali wedding and needs to be performed correctly. This article here deals with the A to Z of wedding tray decoration, from essentials to craft ideas, do-s and don’t-s and even professional wedding tray decorators.

Sometimes I get annoyed when my non-Bengali friends joke about Bengalis loving their fish a little too much and then I remember a Bengali biye’s tatta includes a complete fish decorated like it’s a bride with sindoor, paan and an odhna. Seemingly random, it is actually a connection to our roots.

WEDDING TRAY DECORATION: DO-s AND DON’T-s

Do-s

  1. Start well on time
  2. Tatta is a lot of work. It’s always best to start at least a week or two before the gaye holud to make sure all of the stuff is packed and ready on time.
  3. Find people good with craft to help you with it
  4. Doing the entire wedding tray decoration by yourself is not feasible, it’s going to take you way longer than it should, you better find people who are in general good with craft to help you out.
  5. Make sure that the idea is well communicated
  6. If there’s a team of 5 people handling the wedding tray decoration, make sure the aesthetic you’re going for is communicated to them all. Everyone should be on the same page, and all the trays should usually have the same theme.
  7. The day of the gaye holud when all the trays are being carried over, make sure they’re handled safely.
  8. While you go craft shopping, make sure the cellophane you buy is of good quality and doesn’t tear when you cover your trays with it.
  9. Fix the items properly. Never think it’s enough tape, for then you’ll have underestimated the ability of the tatta to go haywire. The trays shouldn’t come off loose during the car ride to the bride’s/groom’s place either.

Don’t-s

  1. Don’t overcrowd the trays with decoratives. Keep it simple and elegant.
  2. Don’t buy too many or too few. When you’re shopping for the materials, estimate the proper amount so that you don’t have to rush to the shop at the last moment and also that the stuff doesn’t go to waste.

Next up are a few Bengali wedding tray decoration ideas I had in mind that might get your creative juices flowing

  1. Peacock using dry fruits.
  2. Bridal dolls where the dress is made out of chocolates (Ferrero Rocher balls stuck together to make it look like a skirt.)
  3. Toiletries and cosmetics (Saban, Tel, Shampoo etc.) stacked up to make buildings for a cityscape.
  4. Make a lotus or rose out of towels.
  5. Sprinkle dry flowers on the trays for a rustic touch.
  6. You can also use trousseau trunks in different shades for a cleaner and organised look.
  7. Use clear cellophane instead of coloured ones.

Namaste Easy Sabyasachi Lehenga

I had actually been saving a classic red Sabyasachi lehenga for the last but believe me when I saw this magnificent gold lehenga (on one of the many tabs I had open for research), I couldn’t help myself. The chevron pattern although so simple adds a touch of bohemian aristocracy.

Featuring an oversized border with meticulous zari embroidery and a sheer golden dupatta also with zari border, this lehenga is absolutely ornate. Pair with some heavy jewellery.
